In parallel with the progress of the SWDP the South Worcestershire Councils (Malvern Hills, Worcester City & Wychavon Councils) are synchronising the process of preparing a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). CIL is a new charge (levy) that local authorities in England can place on new development in their area. The money generated through the levy will contribute to the funding of infrastructure to support development growth in south Worcestershire.
A revised Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule (PDCS) has been developed which sets out the proposed charging rates for certain types of development in south Worcestershire. The Councils consider that the PDCS, based on viability evidence, strikes an appropriate balance between contributing to funding infrastructure and not making development across south Worcestershire unviable. Consultation on the Community Infrastructure Levy Revised Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule concluded at 9am on 30 March 2015.
