SWDP Review Update

The three SWCs are currently processing and analysing the Regulation 19 consultation responses and are on track to submit the SWDPR, along with a number of proposed modifications, to the Planning Inspectorate. Submission will take place once the Councils have had time to review the changes to the NPPF, which are due in May. It is then the intention to revise the Local Development Scheme (LDS), prior to submission. The updated LDS will include details on the examination and the final milestones before the SWDPR is adopted.

The three South Worcestershire Councils updated their Local Development Schemes (LDS) in 2022. The LDS is a project management document which sets out the council priorities for producing planning policy documents over the coming three years.

The latest version (see below) was adopted at Council meetings held on 22 February 2022 (Malvern Hills District Council and Worcester City Council) and 23 February 2022 (Wychavon District Council).

The current timetable for the SWDP Review is as follows:

  • Regulation 19 Publication Consultation - November and December 2022
  • Submission (Regulation 22) – Early 2023. Exact date to be confirmed
  • Independent Examination (Regulation 24) – February-May 2023. Exact date to be confirmed.
  • Receipt of Inspector’s Report (Regulation 25) – August 2023. Exact date to be confirmed.
  • Adoption (Regulation 26) – October 2023. Exact date to be confirmed.
